THE Origins Fashion Festival has given dozens of Guyanese creatives opportunities to shine. Over three days, the organisers managed to execute a show that not only placed Guyana on the map, but also told our story, gave our creatives opportunities and showcased our identity through fashion.
Throughout the event, some 300 fashionable outfits were showcased on stage, the work of just over 30 designers. Each piece told Guyana’s story.

After the final collection was displayed, organisers recognised the “standout vision and performances” featured throughout Origins. Awardees included the top male and female models of Origins 2026. The top male and female awards were presented to Ryan Tyman and Kayla King respectively.
According to Origins, their aim was to recognise the faces who carried each designer’s vision from sketch to spotlight.
“Every garment tells a story, but it is the model who gives that story movement, confidence, and life. Throughout Origins 2026, our models have represented the work of 31 designers with professionalism, poise, and dedication; becoming ambassadors not only for the collections they wore, but for the festival itself,” they said.
From the first casting call, through weeks of rehearsals and every appearance on the runway, Origins judges carefully observed and evaluated each shortlisted model. The assessment, they said, extended beyond the final walk.
The models were evaluated on attendance, commitment and preparation throughout rehearsals, professionalism and conduct, technical runway performance, garment presentation, stage presence and audience engagement, and their overall impact across the Origins 2026 showcase.
The Top Female Model award was presented to King for her consistently demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and exceptional runway performance throughout the festival. Origins had related that her confidence carrying every collection elevated each designer’s vision, and she distinguished herself through commitment from rehearsals to the final runway presentation.
Tyman was awarded on the basis of his ability to command the runway, while faithfully presenting each designer’s vision, making him a standard performer from beginning to end.
It was announced that the third edition of Origins will be held July 2 to 4 2027.
