JUSTICE Navindra Singh and a mixed jury on Friday heard how armed Cyon Collier called ‘Picture Boy’ rode through Victoria village in Hollywood style and gunned down two brothers.They heard this when state prosecutor Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin was delivering her opening address to the jury in the ‘Picture Boy’ murder trial at the Demerara Assizes.
She said: “During the morning hours of September 23, 2006 a group of young men were playing dominoes at the Victoria Four Corner, East Coast, Demerara, while Ray Walcott called ‘Sugar’ and his brother Carl Andrews called ‘Alo’ were watching the game.
“Cyon Collier called ‘Picture Boy’, who is sitting in the dock rode up on a motor cycle with a big gun slung across his back. Collier gaffed with the men and then took his gun and began cranking it. He opened fire with the weapon and every one began running.
“When the shooting spree was over, ‘Sugar’ was lying by the road side while his brother, Alo was found in a nearby yard. They were both escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Two days later government Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh performed autopsies on both bodies. He found that ‘Sugar’ – Ray Walcott- had sustained seven gun shot wounds and he gave the cause of death to multiple gun shot injuries, while Alo-Carl Andrews – sustained three bullet wounds and died as a result of perforation of the lung due to gun shot injuries.
The prosecutor told the jury that as this trial progresses they will learn more about the facts of this case and that the police investigations and the arrest of the accused who has now been placed in their charge.
Attorney-at-Law Mr. Linden Amsterdam is representing the accused who has pleaded not guilty to both offences.
