CHIEF Investment Officer at the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Dr Peter Ramsaroop, at a recent sod-turning ceremony, said that Guyana is moving at a rapid pace, one where companies must get on board and be ready to join its transformation.

Holistically, Dr Ramsaroop said that when we look at the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) scholarships and how many persons are graduating from the respective programmes, and perhaps the Port Mourant Training Centre where dozens of youths are currently being trained in trade skills to take over the oil and gas, hospitality and tourism and other sectors, we are going to be the envy of many.

He delivered these remarks at the sod-turning ceremony for Massy’s new US$75 million Houston Hub, held at Massy’s Montrose location on Thursday.

He emphasised that the President, Dr Irfaan Ali’s goal was never for Guyana to take the lead, but rather to work with our counterparts in the Caribbean Community.

Dr Ramsaroop told Guyanese to not be left behind, but “be part of our development.” He added, “Don’t let this pass us.” This, he remarked, is probably the most exciting time we will ever see real-time development happen.

“Guyana is probably the last frontier you would see in this phase. So, we get a chance to see [this] development,” Dr Ramsaroop said adding, “So, let’s get on with the business of doing the things for Guyana. Let’s get on with supporting the initiatives by the government, and government is here to enable you. We’re not here to run businesses; we are here to make life easier for every business in this country, and we look forward to working with this company as they move forward, and to take care of our local needs, but also the needs of the region.”
