Police have confirmed that seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial, whose death occurred at Fyrish, Corentyne, Berbice, was suffocated, nearly 24 hours after media reports of the incident.

The updated information comes as investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, which occurred on Sunday at about 11:30hrs.

On Sunday morning prior to the incident, 26-year-old Sarah Shivpersaud posted a picture with herself and her two children on her Facebook page

Following the alleged act, the suspect reportedly injured herself and was subsequently escorted, along with the children, to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where Isabella was pronounced dead on arrival.

The mother remains admitted at the medical facility in stable condition under police guard, while the body of the child is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
