Accused handbag thief returns stolen items, but pleads not guilty

SONITA Rajban, 21, who was said to have stolen one handbag and its contents valued at $149,000 and subsequently returned it, was on Wednesday 5th June, 2013 granted $100,000 bail by Magistrate Zamilla Alli  at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court. According to police, Rajban, on Saturday 1st June 2013 at Lusignan stole a handbag containing cash, jewellery, and a flat iron, all being the property of Deorannie Persaud.
However Rajban informed the court that she had given back the virtual complainant all of her items, but still she pleaded not guilty to the charge, while requesting bail.
Police prosecutor Rushell Alexender had no objections to bail, and the mother of one was then granted $100,000 bail by presiding Magistrate Zamilla Alli.
Rajban is expected to return to court on 19th July, 2013 for report.
