BRIAN Blunt (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday on a murder charge.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, charged with having, between March 10 and 11, 2012, murdered Ernest Persaud.
Police Inspector Burgette Grant, prosecuting, said the accused and the victim were known to each other and, on March 10, they were in a house where they had a heated argument concerning the wife of the accused.
The prosecutor said the accused was armed with a knife and he slit Persaud’s throat and threw him in the Demerara River.
The prosecutor said, when the body of the deceased surfaced and the accused was contacted and called in for questioning, he, later, admitted to the killing.
The case was transferred to Christiansburg Court, Linden for February 19.
