NOT having any press release to date from GT&T via the media on the next edition of it’s “Directory,” I wonder whether “Bhaskar Sharma” who is based in Canada choose to home in on this and decided to run with a project of creating a “Caribbean Yellow Pages Telephone Directory” which is expected to be launched during the Caribanna 2009 celebrations as reported in one of the newsprints only a few days ago.
It is my belief that GT&T has a very vibrant and creative marketing personnel and, with a decision from management with the green light, they might need to seriously embark on an early launching of their project so as to keep some advertisers from routing towards the above mentioned directory project in question.
Bearing in mind that some sectors will definitely be considering this avenue because of the nature of their business I also believe that if they are approached early in advance, they could be persuaded to continue with their commitment or partial support towards their local directory.
Even if they choose to cut back with the usual scale of a particular/regular size of advertisement within the local directory, at least it’s better than loosing their entire business to the foreign based competitor.
I am totally clueless as to what impact will Bhaskar Sharma’s project create on the overseas market. So GT&T, it might now be a more challenging period for your marketing personnel and it simply means that they will have to increase/take their approach to it’s fifth gear.
Advertisers who might be considering the route of B. Sharma, the advertising arena is indeed a channel where you will be able to generate business, but I also suggest that you do your personal marketing research on such a project before the final decision is taken.
