Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee outlined the challenges of the ranks, who were killed in the line of duty over the years and urged members of the GPF not to shirk  their responsibilities, because those who died gave their lives, stood in defence of law and order and took their responsibilities seriously.
He added that with that the government will continue to support and provide the necessary tools for the GPF to effectively carry out their responsibilities to the people of Guyana.
Rohee recalled that over the years the GPF has stood the test of time and noted that it is an organisation with the vested legal authority that maintains law and order across the length and breadth of the country and since the government rely heavily on the GPF to also maintain peace and good order as far as it is practicable it is their duty to support the organisation.

The Top Cop recalled the times when criminal gangs ran amok in the country and how he used to wear two bullet proof vests while on his way to work in Berbice but also noted the changes from that time to now.
He said that the GPF have been prepared and have become more security conscious, aware of what is going on around them and have vowed not to let that happen again in Guyana.
Brumell assured that the GPF will continue to take control of the situation because the citizenry of this country have a right to walk freely and once criminal gangs are raising their heads the GPF will eliminate all gangs.
