No new COVID-19 cases in Region Nine

REGION Nine is the only region in Guyana that has not recorded new COVID-19 cases in the past week, according to the Ministry of Health’s daily dashboards.
While the ministry recorded a total of 302 new cases over the past seven days, none of these were recorded in Region Nine, which is a remarkable feat for such a large region.
Meanwhile, 43 new cases were confirmed within the past 24 hours. Three of these were recorded in Region One, two in Region Two, four in Region Three, 28 in Region Four, four in Region Six, and two in Region 10. Regions Five, Seven, Eight and Nine have not confirmed any new cases within the past 24 hours.
Currently, five persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 51 persons are in institutional isolation, 780 persons in home isolation, and 14 persons in institutional quarantine.

The number of active cases is now back to 850, with 212 tests carried out within the past 24 hours.
The number of recorded COVID-19 fatalities remains at 180.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of the virus.
If you or anyone you know is displaying any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, or need any additional information, kindly contact the COVID-19 Hotline 231-1166, 226-7480 or 624-6674 immediately or visit the Ministry of Health at www.health.gov.gy.
