Celebrating all shades of Guyanese women

WHEN we think of fashion and modelling, we usually think of the tall petite girl or a strapping young man strutting down the runway in the latest pieces of clothing.
However, a new era is upon us, and more and more, people have been demanding that men and women of all shapes and sizes be included in fashion, whether it be on the hangers of boutiques or on stage at local fashion shows. One of the movers and shakers heeding that call is 27-year-old entrepreneur Tekesia Taylor. The young entrepreneur is currently in the process of building her brand and website ‘Queens by Nefertiti’ which she disclosed will be an inclusive brand catering for women of all shapes and sizes, noted that it is extremely important for Guyanese women and girls to see representations of themselves. According to the young woman, the website will be an online boutique that will feature stylish and trendy clothing all modelled and showcased by Guyanese women of all shades and sizes. She told the Buzz that her goal is to empower and celebrate women through fashion.

She added that in this day of age it is important that women feel comfortable whenever they are shopping and getting dolled up. While Taylor’s business may seem just like a regular online boutique, she reassured that it is certainly not as it will be a grand online shopping platform that will not only feature her business but other businesses as well and will also give a few local Guyanese fashion designers a chance to market and sell their pieces. She explained that the platform will provide room for the fastest and safest way of shopping as customers will make payments electronically and will be able to receive their items within a day or two. While the business has not yet been launched, the Queens by Nefertiti team has been releasing teasers through their Instagram page to give customers a glimpse of what they can expect. It was also disclosed that the platform will be more than just an online shopping space but also a blog that will provide women with shopping tips and motivational messages to promote body positivity. While a date has not yet been set for an official launch as the platform is still in its trial phase, fashion enthusiasts can visit the business’ Instagram page @ queensbynefertiti.
