For producer Shawn McAllister it’s “592 to the bone” and for some time now, the creative has been trying to create a platform for Guyanese artistes to collaborate and build their talents.
With a new initiative in mind, McAllister, who currently lives in Atlanta Georgia, is looking to return home to host a music conference with the many other producers and musical geniuses back home in Guyana.
The initiative is somewhat inspired by the success of McAllister’s fourth compilation album ‘Rep 592 Volume 4’ featuring all Guyanese artistes.
“Before the year ends, I want to do some kind of music conference, partner up with a few guys to do a music conference whereby we come together with aspiring artistes and current artistes and we can have some kind workshop where these artistes understand that it’s just not putting any kind of lyrics together and recording,” he told the Buzz.

McAllister further added that in this age and era of music, many young artistes are often consumed by the ‘hype’ and have very little marketing and management skills.
With the platform, he is looking to provide a safe place for Guyanese artiste to not only produce and make music but also teach the youngsters of the day how to manage and market their talents to further build the country’s music industry.
“When hype is involved, you tend to be about just putting music out and not strategically marketing it properly and that’s what I have been seeing with many artistes over the years, they’re just outing out a bunch of stuff,” he said.

However, in the meantime, McAllister disclosed that he is working on his fifth compilation album.
“I have been doing one volume per year but this year I’m going to start doing two so in another six months I’m going to do another one…I’m happy that every year that I do a volume it’s getting more and more popular, a lot of [people are] aware of it so I’m hoping that this volume here takes it to another level. I’m hoping that after volume five that it catches on even more,” he said.

BACK TO HIS ROOTS
McAllister, who is also a fashion designer, disclosed that in 2016 while he was working on a piece for his urban clothing line, he was inspired to create the ‘Rep 592’ compilation album which to date has grown into a well- known brand and album many Guyanese artistes look forward to.
“This particular project with the compilation album I started that in 2016, it came about where I was doing a ‘T’ Shirt called ‘Rep 592’ and after I finished doing the T shirt, I felt like that there was something that I could connect it with,” he said adding: “I figured that ‘Rep 592 fit well with a project that I can do with Guyanese and the most fitting thing I thought to do was the compilation album.”
As it relates to the plans for his clothing brand ‘Demroc’ McAllister disclosed that he is also hoping to by his brand back home to his roots.
Currently, McAllister has a storefront in Atlanta Georgia however; he noted that he is looking to soon extend his brand to Guyana since it has been difficult for him to ship pieces to customers in Guyana.
