TWO youths, on Friday, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with stabbing a teen labourer to death, after challenging him to a fight. The youths were remanded to prison.
Melonnen De Florimonte known as “Meko” and Rayson James known as “Ray Ray”, were not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when they appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse.
They allegedly killed 16-year-old Jumal Park on Tuesday at Front Road, West Ruimveldt.
According to the facts of the case, the accused and the deceased are familiar with each other but are not friends. On the day in question the deceased was at the Front Road wash bay where he works, when the accused in company of another, accosted him. They were armed with a knife and a piece of wood.
An argument ensued which led to Park being attacked. He sustained severe injuries to his left side chest. The accused then made good their escape but were apprehended the following day.
Magistrate Nurse remanded them to prison until November 18 and transferred the matter to Court One.
