…says manager of Gandhi’s store
AS Guyana and the entire world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical to remember the less fortunate and those in vulnerable situations who may not be able to afford or access the basic necessities during this grave health crisis.
In an in effort to give back to the community, the popular variety store – Gandhi’s, on Friday commenced a small feeding programmer, offering bread and snacks to passersby and those in need, free of cost.

In a Facebook post made to the company’s page, the Manager, Seeon Satrohan stated, “please don’t worry, we will keep the table full, if you are hungry just take something and eat. Right in the market at Gandhi’s, you don’t even have to be a customer.”
During an interview with this publication, Mr. Satrohan stated that the pandemic is one of those moments where persons should keep the less fortunate in mind.
He added that there are thousands of persons living in poverty, and as an independent company, Gandhi’s is trying its best to bring some relief to citizens even with limited resources during the health crisis.
Last week, the company also donated 100 bottles of rubbing alcohol to the less fortunate. Mr. Satrohan noted that the events which had taken place over the few days was not an attempt to boost sales or just for publicity, but rather the company’s social responsibility to help the people of Guyana during the crisis.
