A TAXI that failed to yield to a stop sign at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Fifth Street Bartica ‘contributed’ to serious accident on Monday.

The two vehicles involved in the accident were identified as Motorcar HB 8308 and Motorcar PPP 6197.

The taxi that allegedly failed to yield to a stop sign.

Reports indicate that the hire car HB 8308 was proceeding north along the western side of Sixth Avenue Bartica and failed to confirm to the stop sign located at the approach of the intersection.

As a result, the driver of the other vehicle which was proceeding west along the southern side of Fifth Street Bartica, at a fast rate of speed, collided with the taxi and lost control. The car ‘turned turtle’ due to the collision.
The injured persons, from PPP 6197, were picked up by public spirited citizens and carried to the Bartica Regional Hospital where they were seen and treated by a doctor on duty and the driver was admitted.

The driver, was identified as Clinton Hopkinson, 27, of West Indian Housing Scheme Bartica. He received head injuries and was registered as stable in the hospital.
