GROVE/Diamond Youths In Development staged a toy drive, last Sunday, in the compound of the recently opened Diamond branch of Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), on East Bank Demerara. The non-governmental organisation (NGO) scheduled the event to benefit the disabled and less fortunate children who live in the neighbouring communities and, according to the Chairman, Mr. Chattergoon Jadopat it was a great success.
He announced that the group will try to make it annual.
Jadopat said they, having been chosen as a training hub for the recipients of the One Laptop per Family (OLPF) initiative, have a lot more programmes planned for the coming year.
He took the opportunity to thank all the sponsors for making the event possible.
Former Minister of Labour, Mr. Manzoor Nadir also attended the Sunday occasion and made some remarks.
Anyone wanting to know more about the organisation can contact Devi Ramcharitar on telephone number 699-5111.
