SEVERAL mobile phones and phone chargers were among illegal items discovered by police and prison officers during a search of the Lusignan Prison on Saturday.

The search lasted for some three hours, a release said. It noted that among the items found were cellphone batteries (two) , scissors ( four pairs ), hack saw blades (two), improvised weapons (13) , mirrors (two) , lighters (24) , phone chargers (27), Ziploc bags with marijuana (four) , cigarettes and a quantity of wire and razor blades .

In recent months, a number of illegal items were found within the prison walls, while persons have been making bold attempts to ferry narcotics into the prison.
