– Canadian envoy finds no matter the weather, they just come out and celebrate

EXPERIENCING Easter in Guyana for the first time was High Commissioner of Canada to Guyana Lilian Chatterjee, who was seen walking around the National Park on Monday afternoon along with her two visitors from Canada.
Stopping to speak with the Guyana Chronicle, Chatterjee said that her friends who came just for the season, were enjoying themselves just as much as she was, despite the damp weather.
“Oh, it’s lovely! It’s my first Easter here, and I had to enjoy the kite-flying experience,” Ms Chatterjee said, adding:
“We’re just enjoying how Guyanese people, doesn’t matter what the weather is like, they come out and they celebrate and we’re enjoying it.”
Speaking about her plans for the rest of the afternoon, which included visiting the seawall, the Canadian envoy said:
“We’re just going to soak up all this happiness!”
Meanwhile, her friends, Margaret Mogz and Patsy George, were eager to tell of their experiences while in Guyana.
“It’s most unusual for me, because I’ve never seen the kites for Easter, and so it’s interesting to hear the significance of that, and why you do that. It’s the resurrection of Christ,” George said.
Chiming in was Mogz, who said: “Oh! I will definitely come again! I’ve seen kite-flying before, but this is outstanding.”
