Adams returns to winner’s row to capture Medal Play golf

CARLOS Adams returned to winner’s row in capturing the Prabudial “Speedy” Ramdial Memorial Medal Play tournament last Saturday at the Lusignan golf Club.
In ideal conditions for golf, Adams won in convincing fashion recording a net 67 from a gross 95 playing off a 28 handicap.

Bholawram Deo continued his impressive form to capture the second position with a net 70 from gross 86 playing off a 16 handicap.
Mohanlall “Santo” Dinanauth (4-75-71) secured the third place on a countback from Kishum Bacchus (15-86-71) who both ended on net scores of 71.
Mike Gayadin was Nearest to the Pin.

The tournament was sponsored by Vish Trading Inc. of La Ressouvenir , East Coast Demerara in honour of their last Managing Director Prabudial “Speedy” Ramdial who was an ardent golf fan.
Brian Hackett, Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club, said “Speedy” was always willing to support golf locally so when the company was approached to sponsor a tournament in his honour the current management readily agreed.
Director of Vish Trading Nandalall Ramdial, presented the prizes to the outstanding players.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s golfers excelled during their recent trip to neighbouring Paramaribo for the Suriname Open championships.
Fifteen-year-old golf prodigy Avinda Kishore played second overall in the two-day tournament that attracted players from the Guianas and Dutch Antilles.
Kishore (handicap 11) sponsored by Ansa McAl Trading recorded an overall net score of 135 over two days.
William Walker recorded the lowest gross of 76 on the first day to win on a countback from compatriot Mike Mangal while Brian Glasford was Nearest to the Pin also on the opening day.
The Guyana contingent also included Mike Gayadin, Patrick Prashad, Doreen De Caires and John Tracey.
