Burglar sentenced to four years imprisonment

CONVICTED burglar Delroy Moore also known Dublin, 27, of Number One Road, Corentyne, was sentenced to four years imprisonment Wednesday.

The custodial punishment was imposed on him by Magistrate Chandra Sohan, before whom he pleaded guilty to break and enter and larceny, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice.

Police Inspector Donna Grant-Fraser, prosecuting, said the convict, between March 31 and April 2, broke and entered the dwelling house of Brentnol Samuels at Courtland, Corentyne, from where he stole a 28-inch television a laptop computer, a wall clock and a hat, valued a total of $444,000.

However, the television was recovered, the Prosecutor informed, as the prisoner begged for a chance mend his ways.

Moore, who said he was a miner, confessed to selling the rest of the booty for $15,000.

Rejecting his plea for leniency, Magistrate Sohan told Moore he was mining for the wrong things at the wrong place.
