Delta no longer charging for second piece luggage

PASSENGERS travelling on Delta Arlines direct flights from Guyana to New York in the United States (U.S) will not, after all, have to pay the previously announced charge for their second piece of luggage.

Delta Sales Manager in Georgetown, Mr. Junior Horatio made the announcement yesterday in a telephone interview with the Guyana Chronicle.

He said travellers will be allowed two pieces of baggage free, because, after careful consideration and review, it was decided that, as customary, each passenger would continue to be permitted the handpiece and two pieces of luggage weighing 50 pounds separately.

Delta had said that, with effect from July 1, a US$50 fee would have been charged for the second suitcase.

However, Horatio pointed out that payment for the second piece will be applicable to persons flying between the U.S. and Europe.

He also indicated that, from June 30 to September 9, for the highly anticipated Summer holidays, the airline will have six non-stop flights to New York weekly, leaving Guyana every day except Mondays.

Horatio said bookings for the July/August period are good, so far, for both inbound and outbound flights.

Importantly, he reminded passengers that all the flights will depart Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, at 09:00 h and the check-in time is 05:30 h, three and a half hours before departure.
