ON a two-paced pitch at the National Stadium, Providence, the Guyana Amazon Warriors further executed their HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) dominance, trouncing St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets in game ten yesterday and continuing their unbeaten tournament run to four wins.

Close to 8000 spectators watched the visitors found themselves in the wrong end of what was a disconcerting performance from their batsmen who could only muster up 108-8.
The pitch which is coming under heavy criticism, saw the Patriots failed to find their groove going from the beginning and struggled to gain batting momentum, after Captain Faf Du Plessis won the toss and opted to don the pads.
Lendl Simmons was the only Patriots batsman to demonstrate relative comfort, hitting 50 off 60 balls.
However, the lost of three quick wickets in the first half of the innings resulted in the visitors failing to recover from the damage and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, as the ball bobbed up off the sluggish clay. They only managed to score seven boundaries, with Simmons accounted for three of those.
The move to play three spinners again, as the Warriors did in the victory over the Jamaica Tallawahs last Thursday evening was predictive.
The spinners exploited the favourable conditions superbly to claimed five wickets between them for just 60 runs in fourteen overs.
Leg-spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the spinners, claiming 3-18, but off-spinner, Steven Jacobs was the most economical, with his four overs went for just seven runs while left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul giving away only 25 runs.
The other bowlers did their bit with left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir and medium pacer Rayad Emrit the other successful bowlers.
Jacobs started the visitors slide when he trapped Evin Lewis leg before wicket in the fourth over before Rayad Emrit removed Thisara Perera, putting the visitors’ formidable batting on the back foot.
With the first six overs yielding just 24 runs, the Patriots began to feel the pressure once Zampa accounted for dangerman Du Plessis for one to leave the visitors struggling at 29-3.
Jonathan Carter and Simmons then provide the Patriots a much-needed impetus, added 23 for the fourth wicket, before Permaul removed Carter (15). Zampa then claimed the wickets of Devon Thomas and Jon Jon Smuts in the 17th over.
Simmons led on till the end, but failed to get enough on the board with which to cause the Warriors any pain whatsoever. He and Shamarh Brooks were the final two wickets to be dismissed.
However, their below par total was always gettable even with the dismissal of Dwayne Smith, caught and bowl by Smuts in the second over, and a middle order collapse.
Martin Guptill, who took the Man-of-the-Match honours and Chris Lynn added 60 runs for the second wicket in six overs which eventually set up the successful run chase.
Guptill take the attack to the opposition, smashing a 22-ball 43, with three fours and four sixes. The Warriors then suffered a mini collapse, losing Guptill, Jason Mohammed (4), Christopher Barnwell (0), Anthony Bramble (1) and Lynn, who made a 37-ball 34 in the process.
Tanvir and Jacobs calmly knocked off the final six runs for victory with 3.4 overs to spare. On the bowling front, there was nothing to write about, despite Smuts, Samuel Badree and Tabraiz Shamsi claiming two wickets apiece, but it is a long way back for the Patriots, who need some major change in strategy to progress further in the tournament.
On the other hand, the Warriors, who are undefeated thus far, will play the Trinbago Knight Riders tonight from 19:00hrs, the penultimate game of their home leg fixtures.
