Lucky Dollar pleased with debut horse racing sponsorship

IT was the first time the Lucky Dollar Guyana store has sponsored horse racing and chose to do so at the recently held Kennard Memorial Turf Club’s (KMTC) Post Emancipation meet held last Sunday. The store which has branches in Regent Street, Vreed-en-Hoop and New Amsterdam, threw its financial support behind the F and Lower Class event which covered a distance of six furlongs and was won by Fresh Prospect ridden by Rupert Ramnauth who was later named champion jockey.
But the smile that was evident on the face of Mr Lyndon Gomes, the Chain Manager of Lucky Dollar’s Regent Street branch, was like that of a child who had just received a new toy from his parents or a much-needed birthday gift.
“This is fantastic. Even more, this is great. It’s so much fun, I am happy to be here to witness this. What is happening here is a community thing and certainly, Lucky Dollar is pleased to be associated with this.
“In Berbice, horseracing is the next best thing compared to cricket and we are pleased with the amount of mileage we have received from the KMTC, as well as the response, and certainly we will be looking forward to working with them in the future,” said Gomes.
While Gomes was expressing his pleasure, honorary president of KMTC and former Chancellor of the Judiciary Cecil Kennard took the time to thank the first-time sponsor for the sterling contribution.
“As I have stated time and time again, most sporting activities cannot go ahead without sponsorship and I am extremely happy to know that Lucky Dollar joined us for this meet. The other executives of the KMTC and I are eagerly looking forward to working with the management and staff of Lucky Dollar in the future,” said Kennard.
Prior to sponsoring the race which was the second on the day’s card, Lucky Dollar Guyana was involved with part sponsorship of the Ms Guyana Earth beauty pageant, as well as the ‘Till I find a place in Sophia’ movie.
