GODFREY Lynch, a 25-year-old miner of Fifth Street, Alberttown was placed on $80,000 bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore when he appeared in court and pleaded not guilty on a robbery charge. The Court heard that on January 4, 2016 at Agricola, East Bank Demerara, he robbed Joel Prescott of one BLU cellular phone valued $160,000, and at the time of the robbery or immediately after, he used personal violence toward Prescott.

The Police Prosecutor opposed bail on the ground of the seriousness of the crime committed and the prevalence. However bail was granted.

Lynch also made an allegation of police brutality, where he accused officers of shooting at him and physically assaulting him when he was at the Brickdam Police Station. The magistrate instructed the prosecutor to investigate the allegation, since they were very serious matters.

The matter was adjourned until May 13, 2016 for report.
