“Come out and have a belly-bottom” laugh is the urge of CEO of Aracari Resort, Mr. Sase Shewnarain, as the Mori ‘J’ Von comedy franchise heads for the Essequibo Coast. After successful open air shows at Thirst Park, Linden, Hopetown, Canje, Berbice, and the Aracari Resort, Mori ‘J’ Von is ready for Anna Regina Centre Ground today.
At a recent media briefing at the resort at 160 Versailles, Shewnarain, lauded the show saying that it is “family” entertainment and more suitable than some of the material out there which “passes” for entertainment.
Shewnarain pointed out that theatre in Guyana seems to be limited to persons who are acquainted with the National Cultural Centre and go there, but do not reach rural Guyana. “Theater is needed in rural Guyana to generate new concepts and stimulate new ways of thinking”, he said.
He said that as of July 25, the show will be made into a syndicated TV show to be broadcast to the entire nation and will showcase the best of episodes 1, 2, 3 and 4. There are also plans to take the show to the Caribbean. This, Shewnarain said, would promote good relations and understanding and help to alleviate “negative stigma”.
Operations Manger of Aracari Resort, Godfrey Huggins, described the first show at the resort recently as a “resounding success”.
