RAYMOND Mohamed, 43, of Lot 316 Middle and East Streets, Georgetown, was yesterday fined $50,000 with the alternative of 18 months imprisonment for theft.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson imposed the penalty on him after he pleaded guilty to simple larceny, admitting that, last June 4, he stole one motor car mirror, valued $3,000, property of Glenna Toney.
The defendant said he was washing another vehicle when the virtual complainant and other persons accused him of stealing the mirror but Toney, subsequently, found it under her vehicle.
Mohamed, however, said he would maintain his guilty plea to finish the matter and avoid wasting the Court’s time.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said Mohamed was previously convicted, on four occasions, for similar offences.
