PREPARATIONS for the 2027 CARIFTA Games have been stepped up a gear after more than 50 track-and-field officials completed an intensive two-day training programme in Guyana.
The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) hosted over 55 participants for the sessions, designed to sharpen technical standards and expand officiating capacity ahead of hosting the Caribbean’s premier junior athletics showpiece.
Working alongside the Local Organising Committee, the AAG executive is targeting every facet of operational delivery before welcoming the Region’s finest young talents.
Ongoing technical development remains central to that blueprint, with officials Niall Stanton and Kenisha Headley continuing to liaise with coaches across the regions as they nurture the next wave of domestic competitors.
Addressing attendees at the opening session, the AAG President Amanda Hermanstine urged officials to lead from the front, highlighting the vital role volunteer work plays in inspiring wider youth participation and driving grassroots growth across the country.
With the administrative machinery beginning to turn, local organisers are determined to ensure that Guyana’s staging of the 2027 Games leaves a lasting institutional legacy well beyond the track. (Modified Press Release)
