FORTY public servants in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) have completed customer service training aimed at improving the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of services delivered to citizens.
The training, held at the Regional Democratic Office boardroom, focused on equipping participants with practical skills to handle public interactions professionally, manage complaints effectively and improve service delivery across government offices.
Participants received training in communication, customer service and conflict management, with emphasis on responding to members of the public with confidence, empathy and professionalism.
The programme also covered effective queue and time management techniques designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce waiting times for people accessing government services.
Among those attending were Regional Executive Officer Deolall Rooplall; Deputy Mayor, Lorna Fitz Allen; Deputy Regional Executive Officer, Omesh Sasenarayan; Training Officer, Wayne Wilson and Manager of Training Administration within the Ministry of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Valencia Wren.
The initiative forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public sector capacity and promote a more responsive, ethical and people-centred approach to service delivery.
By equipping public servants with improved communication and conflict-resolution skills, the training is intended to support more effective interactions between government employees and citizens, particularly when addressing complaints and other service-related concerns.
The emphasis on time and queue management also seeks to improve the experience of people visiting public offices by encouraging more organised processes and timely assistance.
The programme underscores the importance of professionalism, accountability and courtesy in public service, with the ministry continuing to promote standards that ensure citizens receive respectful, efficient and quality service.
The training is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to build a public service that is better equipped to respond to the needs and expectations of the people it serves.
