A 17-year-old schoolgirl was shot dead at her home in Wismar, Linden, on Monday afternoon.
Police said her 21-year-old boyfriend also died at the scene from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Guyana Police Force said it is investigating the incident as an alleged murder-suicide that happened around 16:30hrs at Block 22 Squatting Area, Wismar, and involved Toisha Andrews of that address and Anthony Kellon Malachi Cato of Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Andrews had just returned home from school when Cato, reportedly her boyfriend, approached her with a firearm. Police said he allegedly discharged a round that struck her in the forehead.
Cato then suffered what is suspected to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died at the scene. Andrews was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
A .32 pistol was recovered near Cato’s body. Police ranks were still processing the scene at the time the statement was issued. Investigations are ongoing.
