ARCHERY Guyana Inc is pleased to announce that Guyana will host a National Judge Seminar from October 26–28, 2026, immediately after the Inaugural 2026 Caribbean Archery Championships and Eighth Caribbean Developmental Championships, which will take place at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence from October 22–25.
The seminar is part of a broader effort to strengthen Guyana’s archery technical capacity, ensuring that the experience and exposure of hosting an international championship are matched by investment in the people responsible for upholding the sport’s standards.
The Olympic Movement, including Olympic Solidarity, is supporting the programme, which reflects the importance of technical education and capacity building in the continued development of sport.
The seminar will be facilitated by Randall D Jones of Canada, a Continental Judge with World Archery Americas, a member of its Constitution and Rules Committee, and Technical Editor for the World Archery Constitution and Rules Committee. He is also a retired World Archery International Judge.
Mr Jones will guide participants through the principles, rules, and procedures governing archery competitions, using seminar materials, case studies, and practical examples to strengthen their understanding of a judge’s responsibilities.
The programme will draw on the World Archery Rulebooks, the Judges’ Guidebook, and the National Judge Manual. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of competition procedures, equipment requirements, scoring, safety and the consistent application of the rules.
Judges play a critical role in archery, ensuring that competitions are conducted fairly, safely, and in accordance with the applicable rules. Developing knowledgeable, competent technical officials is therefore essential to maintaining the sport’s integrity and supporting the growth of competitive archery at national and regional levels.
The timing of the seminar is particularly significant. After four days of international competition in Guyana, the seminar will offer another opportunity to strengthen the country’s technical expertise and support archery’s long-term development.
The championships and the seminar are complementary investments: one brings athletes and officials together through international competition, while the other builds the knowledge and skills needed to support future competitions.
Archery Guyana Inc President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon welcomed the opportunity to expand the country’s technical capacity. “Hosting an international championship is an important milestone, but the true value of such an opportunity lies in what we build from it. By bringing international competition and technical education together, we are investing not only in the event itself, but also in the people who will help sustain the growth of archery in Guyana for years to come.
“Our judges are essential to ensuring that our competitions are safe, fair and conducted to the appropriate standards. This seminar gives our participants an important opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and contribute more meaningfully to [the] sport’s development.
“The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana sincerely appreciates Mr Godfrey Munroe, President of the Guyana Olympic Association, and the GOA Executive Committee for supporting opportunities that strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of sport in Guyana.
“The federation also acknowledges World Archery Americas and Olympic Solidarity for their contribution to sport development and the advancement of technical education within the Olympic Movement.
“Their support helps national federations develop the people, systems, and expertise needed to deliver sport more effectively and sustainably.
“Archery Guyana remains committed to strengthening its coaching and officiating structures, expanding opportunities for participation, and ensuring that the continued growth of archery in Guyana is supported by competent personnel and sound technical standards.”
