GUYANA will host a World Archery Level 2 Coaching Course from October 26–30, following the 2026 Caribbean Archery Championships and the 8th Caribbean Developmental Championships scheduled for October 22–25 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana Inc. announced that the coaching programme will be held at Olympic House, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, in collaboration with World Archery Americas and with support from Olympic Solidarity.
The back-to-back events are expected to strengthen both competitive archery and coach development in Guyana, providing local athletes with international competition experience while improving the technical capacity of coaches responsible for developing future talent.
World Archery’s Level 2 coaching programme focuses on intermediate coaching skills, including advanced technique, equipment study and tuning, biomechanics and psychology.
Leading the course will be World Archery-certified Coach Trainer, Ludys Tejada, assisted by Guyana’s Level 2 coach, Ryan McKinnon. Participants will undertake structured training aimed at improving their coaching knowledge and practical skills while strengthening the development pathway for archers in Guyana.
Archery Guyana President, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, welcomed the initiative, highlighting the opportunity to build on the momentum of hosting an international championship.
“It is particularly meaningful that immediately after Guyana hosts an international archery championship, we will welcome a continental-level coaching development programme. We are not simply bringing an event to Guyana, we are using the opportunity to build capacity that will remain long after the medals have been awarded,” she said.
Archery Guyana also expressed appreciation to Guyana Olympic Association President, Godfrey Munroe and the association’s Executive Committee for supporting the initiative.
The federation further acknowledged World Archery Americas and Olympic Solidarity for their continued commitment to sports development through education and capacity building.
Olympic Solidarity supports development initiatives through National Olympic Committees, including programmes designed to strengthen coaching expertise and improve sporting standards.
