THE Guyana Hockey Board’s (GHB) National Indoor Championship got under way on Wednesday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

 

When the dust settled, it was the Saints teams that ruled the roost.

 

The under-21 girls’ division saw Saints Ladies demolished Hikers under-21 with a 7-nil victory in an explosive performance on the opening day.

Clayza Bobb was imperious with a hat-trick of goals, including scoring her and the team’s first goal three minutes into the clash. Her last goal was at the 30-minute mark.

 

Chlamaka Agha also recorded a double with Africo Blackman and Isabelle Grouper, scoring the other goals.

 

The boys’ U-21 division saw Saints’ team stop Hikers 4-1. Aaron Abraham first hit the back of the net in the 11th minute before a pair of goals from Jabari Lovell.

 

Hikers’ Micheal Payne pulled back the advantage with their first goal in the 26th minute before Lovell returned to cap off the victory.

In the U-17 girls’ category, Saints U-17 girls dubbed ‘Sensations’ were simply sensational to inflict a 4-nil thrashing on St. Joseph Blue Bloods with a pair of goals from Isabelle Grouper.

 

GCC Spartans beat Old Fort Bomb Squad 1-nil with a Kadence Belony strike.

 

In the boys’ U-17 class, Old Fort Predators needle Multi Alumni with Tyrese Benn accounting for the lone goal.

 

Saints Sigma edged GCC Outlaws 2-1, with both goals coming off the stick of Ezekiel Moses.

 

GCC Her-ricanes and Old Fort Phantom troupe played out a one-all stalemate.
