THE Ministry of Human Services and Social Security is strengthening the capacity of its Probation and Social Services Department through a week-long training programme for newly appointed Probation Officers.
The training, which runs from October 5 to 9, 2026, is equipping the officers with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively discharge their responsibilities and provide professional support to individuals and families.
The programme covers key areas including report writing, investigative techniques, effective communication and the legal framework governing probation and social services.
During the current phase of the programme, participants are focusing primarily on the theoretical aspects of their duties, establishing a foundation that will support the practical application of their knowledge.
The training forms part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its complement of officers and improve the quality of services provided to persons and families who come into contact with the probation and social services system.
Through the initiative, the ministry is seeking to ensure that newly appointed officers are adequately prepared to carry out their responsibilities while applying the relevant legal, investigative and communication skills in their day-to-day work.
