A 22-year-old Essequibo Coast labourer has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer following an incident involving two police ranks at Charity Public Road.
Vivon Tobin of Charity Back Street, Essequibo Coast, appeared on Thursday before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him.
Tobin pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.
The charges stem from an incident on September 28 at Charity Public Road involving two ranks attached to the Charity Police Station.
Tobin was charged under Section 28(b) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.
The matters were adjourned to February 8, 2027.
