THE countdown towards the third edition of Guyana’s biggest open softball cricket tournament, the “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cup,” is getting closer, and Lindsayca Integrated Energy Solution Group has thrown its support towards the staging of the countrywide tournament, which runs from 18th October to 15th November, 2026.
The “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup” tournament has established itself as a grassroots cricket competition that brings together players from different communities, backgrounds, and age groups, while giving local talent a chance to compete for the honour of representing their respective regions at the national level.
Lindsayca Executive Director Mr. Grean Fuentes said Lindsayca is very pleased to be a partner in this grassroots sports initiative. During his remarks, he said, “We see this as a tournament that is in line with what Lindsayca is into and that is community development and not just that but more so in bringing the people together as one through sports.”
In a handover of sponsorship at the company office in Guyana, Executive Director of Lindsayca Integrated Energy Solution Group Mr. Grean Fuentes said that wherever Lindsayca is, it is always pleased to be part of development and has always supported togetherness and unity. He said, “So, this tournament is what we see as fitting in ensuring that youths are involved in sports development and that sport brings people together.”
Mr. Fuentes added, “Guyana is a wonderful and unique multicultural society, and having this game of cricket being played at the lowest level and in villages regionally is what helps young people to showcase their talents and more so to focus on the positives in life through sports.”
He further went on to say that the best part is that local players have the opportunity to play against their own local players before heading to the big stage of competing at the national level against players from other regions, and that by itself sets the standard for development, as they are going to ensure that they put their best skills and talents in the game towards winning the tournament. He noted that, “Not all teams can win the tournament, but the best teams from the regions have the opportunity to ensure they play their best to be the country’s national winner and pride themselves as the best.”
He said that his company is pleased to be part of this One Guyana Open Softball Tournament, adding, “And more so, we are very happy to see that the organisers have catered for the females to be part of this tournament. Not many times and places do we see females being given equal opportunity as men to be on the national stage, and having the women’s category of the tournament shows that the competition is not based on one gender, but it caters for all to be involved.”
On behalf of himself and the company, Mr. Fuentes wished all the teams the very best and wished them well as they compete for regional and national pride and being the country’s champions. He added, “Also, I would like to wish the management and organisers the very best because having a tournament like this nationwide is not an easy task to ensure it is successful, and therefore, hats off to the management for ensuring they have this 3rd edition of the competition.”
Manager of RS Sports Mr. Abel Seetaram thanked Lindsayca for being on board and assured the executive director that the tournament will be played to the highest standard, with all rules in the game being put in place and adhered to in ensuring it is once again successful.
The nationwide tournament returns bigger and better, with both male and female categories, and over $5 million in cash and prizes up for grabs.
