BROCODE “Fashion of Hope” was held on Sunday at Scotty’s Smoke House, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, where an entire afternoon was dedicated to style, purpose and inspiration celebrating cancer survivors.
The fashion designers, Derek Moore and Donna Ramsammy-James provided trendy outfits which were modeled by cancer survivors of both genders. The breast and prostate cancers survivors showcased their fashionable side on the runway.
Following the fashion show, which lasted a few hours, a brunch was held by Scotty’s Smoke House, to further honour the survivors.
The event was organised by BROCODE and Scotty’s Smoke House in which their first-ever fund-raising fashion show in support of breast and prostate cancer was held titled “Fashion for Hope”.
The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps including U.S. Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole Theriot, and other prominent members of society.
The programme included a musical rendition, contemporary dance, three survivors recapping, tribute to Karega Fordyce and the fashion show.
The event was one of united fashion, community and purpose in support of prostate and breast cancer awareness efforts.
The fundraiser directly supports the organisation’s ongoing work in prostate cancer, education, outreach and early detection initiatives in Guyana.
According to President of BROCODE, Frank Roman, in the spirt of solidarity, a portion of money garnered will be donated to The Giving Hope Foundation to help further breast cancer efforts, extending their impact to another cause that touches countless families.
He thanked all the sponsors, partners and supporters.

BROCODE is a Brotherhood, Community and Development in Men’s Health initiative intended to empower Guyanese men through health awareness and screenings.
The non-government organisation (NGO) was founded in March 2023 to address the health disparities and high mortality rates among Guyanese men, with a focus on diseases such as prostate cancer, diabetes and hypertension.
The non-profit organisation promotes early detection, encourage honest conversations, and creates relevant wellness campaigns that meet men where they are- in barbershops, community centres, sports field, and homes.
The work of BROCODE is grounded in the belief that health is not just physical, but deeply emotional, social and generational. Its mission is to promote and advocate for the physical and mental health of men through education, awareness and referrals to healthcare resources.
