MALALI are the male champions, while Wiruni won the female championship, as the third annual Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips T10 Softball cricket wrapped up over the weekend at the Community Centre ground in Kwakwani.
This year’s $4M total prize pool, including trophies and medals, saw Malali defeat hosts Kwakwani in the championship game to pocket the $1M first prize, with Kwakwani receiving $600,000, while Speightland took third with $400,000.
Wiruni stopped Three Friends/ Coomacka in the final of the female competition to also capture the top prize of $1M, as Three Friends/Coomacka, as runners-up, collected $600,000, while third-placed Old England received $400,000.

Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honorable Mark Phillips, and his wife, Mrs Mignon Bowen-Phillips, attended the finals along with scores of residents from the various communities of Sub-District Two of Region 10, showing up to support their various teams.
This year’s tournament brought together 13 male and 13 female teams and was coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Region 10 Representative, Orin Wilson. (Joe Chapman)
