PLANS are moving apace for the staging of Guyana’s biggest open softball cricket tournament, the “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cup” which runs from October to November, 2026.
The “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup” tournament has established itself as a grassroots cricket competition that brings together players from different communities, backgrounds, and age groups, while giving local talent a chance to compete for the honour of representing their respective regions at the national level.
Renewing its support is GMIN Ventures (GMining).
In a simple handing over of sponsorship, Country Manager for GMIN Ventures, Mr. Bjorn Jeune, said that he is very pleased that his entity was once again called upon to support the tournament, and because of the success of the previous tournament, his entity without hesitation renewed its sponsorship in a more tangible way for the third edition.
Mr. Jeune said that he sees this support as part of his company’s way of supporting the development of sports, especially softball cricket in communities.
The country manager went on to say that grassroots games like these bring out the potential in young and upcoming cricketers. He further said that youths have an opportunity once again to be part of cricket at the lowest level and to show their skills and abilities they have in the game.
He went on to wish all the teams the very best.
Manager of RS Sports, Mr. Abel Seetaram, took the opportunity to thank Mr. Jeune and his entity for once again supporting the tournament and assured the country manager that this third edition of the tournament will be played to the highest standard and within all rules that govern the game.
Mr. Seetaram thanked the company for its support and stated that he wished that the partnership continues in the best interest of sports development.
The nationwide tournament returns bigger and better, with both male and female categories, and over $5 million in cash and prizes up for grabs.
This year’s tournament is set to see the winner in the regional male category walk away with $100,000 and a trophy, while prizes will be awarded to the runner-up, best bowler, best batter, MVP, and player of the final.
In the female category, the winner will take away $50,000 and a trophy, while other prizes will be awarded to the runner-up, best bowler, best batter, MVP, and player of the final.
In the national playoffs, the winner in the men’s category will take home $1.3 million and the winning trophy; the runner-up $300,000 and trophy; the Player of the Tournament (MVP) $70,000 and trophy, along with other prizes. The player of the final will cart off $30,000 and a trophy, while the player with the best bowling figures in an innings and the batsman with the highest individual score will take home $20,000 and a trophy respectively.
While in the women’s playoffs, the winner will take home $500,000 and the winning trophy; the runner-up $200,000 and a trophy; the Player of the Tournament (MVP) will receive $50,000 and a trophy, along with other prizes. The player of the final will take home $30,000 and a trophy; while the player with the best bowling figures in an innings and the batsman with the highest individual score will take home $20,000 and a trophy respectively.
The tournament runs from 18th October to 15th November 2026, and games will be played at various community grounds across the regions, while the national playoffs will be on the 14th and 15th of November.
The organisers said that their intention is to take the tournament to the people. Previously, the playoffs were held in Regions Five and Six. This year, the playoffs will be played in Region Three.
The national playoffs are expected to feature a spectacular programme of cultural entertainment and family activities, making the event more than just a cricket competition.
