THE Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) will begin its 2026 Championship season on Saturday September 26, at the South Dakota Circuit.
The two-day event, which will feature qualifying on Saturday followed by
Sunday’s Raceday will see drivers competing for championship points across the
club’s racing classes.
The opening round follows the GMR&SC’s Speed Fest held at the South Dakota
Circuit earlier this month. Drivers and teams will now turn their attention to the
championship, with points on offer toward the 2026 titles.
Admission is $4,000 for adults and $2,000 for children.
GMR&SC President, Mohamed Shairaz Roshandin, confirmed that while this is a
late start to the championship, they expect the full support of drivers and riders
“Normally, our season starts earlier but this year with the Historic GT3 Challenge
series coming here, we had to make some adjustments to the calendar. From what
we have seen regarding registration, we are likely to get the full slew of
competitors come the event,” the GMR&SC boss added.
The GMR&SC is inviting motorsport fans and families to attend the opening round
and support the local competitors throughout the day.
The 2026 championship is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport,
One Guyana, GuyOil, Enet, KFC and Castrol.(Press release).
