I HAVE argued time after time on this page and on the Freddie Kissoon Show that irrational anti-government voices give the PPP enormous scope to secure the support of the Guyanese people. Guyana of the 1970s is gone. Those irrational voices are an anachronistic species.

Before I go into the headline of this article, a powerful example of a changing Guyana and how some people have become irrelevant should be offered. I don’t know if what I am about to write still exist but I know a few years ago, the University of Guyana could not sustain the degree programme in history and English literature.

When I entered UG, the history degree always had more applicants that UG could accommodate. The history professors were the crème de la crème of UG academics. Just think of how Guyana is changing that those two degree programmes may no longer exist. The quicker those irrational voices learn this monumental fact, the more relevant they will become.

The online newspaper Village Voice (VV) which is rumoured, along with its fellow online entity, Kiskadee Watch, to be funded by Azruddin Mohamed, accommodates a school of anti-government writers who belong to the past. And what do these columnists do? They consistently attempt to turn nasty fictions into facts. What proof do I have? You can get that proof by just turning Village Voice pages to David Hinds, GHK Lall, Ubraj Narine, Henry Jeffrey, Lincoln Lewis among others. Read about things the Government of Guyana has done that never existed. Read from these people the fictional African Guyanese that the PPP government mashed up.
Now in a twist of degenerate, immoral, stink reasoning, VV is crying about Guyanese who attack people unfairly. I quote from last Sunday’s edition of VV. I would advise you to read the quote twice. When you do that, you will see how easily the savage you lose on people one day will snap and devour you.

Here is a lengthy quote: “What has happened in some of the public commentary surrounding Persaud.” “The rush to declare that High Court Judge Gino Persaud’s United States visa has been revoked demonstrates how readily an unconfirmed development can be transformed into an accepted “fact.” Yet the information publicly available does not establish that the judge’s visa was revoked or cancelled. It follows that “under review” cannot reasonably be presented as proof of “revoked.” To make that leap without documentary evidence is to substitute assertion for verification. That appears to be precisely what has happened in some of the public commentary surrounding Persaud.” A

This column is not about Justice Gino Persaud, a former student of mine, whom I have shared a good relationship with over the last few decades. This article is about the uncontrollable jungle beast that entities in this country such as the Stabroek News, Guyana Human Rights Association, Red Thread, VV and its columnist named above, have let loose on this nation.

One day, this mad animal will rush at you. Read the comments below the post of Mark Benschop who accused David Hinds of betrayed behavior by shaking Minister Edghill’s hand. Those toxic comments consist of the identical rut that Hinds is accustomed to using against African Guyanese who join the PPP.
One phrase used against Hinds by Benschop’s supporters will make you laugh till you hurt yourself. It goes like this: “Like David singing for his supper.” The people who wrote that observation are the people that David, Benschop and a school of their acolytes let loose on Guyana.

There is a certain word I never use. I will use it in this context to prove my point. I never use the word because I have an obsessive love for dogs. But to David I say, “karma is a bitch.” The same karma example now applies to VV. Go back to older editions of VV and you will see how many fictional publications have been printed about visas of ministers being taken away, American extradition requests for ministers, the unlimited mansions ministers own etc. None has any bearing in reality, but VV and people like Travis Chase continue to attempt to transform fiction into fact.

Will VV stop this atrocity now that it is crying wolf? The answer is a reverberating no. The leopard cannot change its spots. Minds far gone do not have the capacity to be salvaged. This negativity has its positive dimension. The more anti-government minds appear crazy, the more normal human beings recoil against them. When election times come around, voters reject those empty minds. Stabroek News, Village Voice, Travis Chase, David Hinds, Red Thread, GHK Lall, Amanza Walton, AFC, WPA, PNC, Guyana Human Rights Association etc failed to persuade voters in 2025. They will fail again in 2030.
