79 government services now available online

THE government’s drive to modernise public service delivery is gaining pace, with 79 government services now available online and further services expected to be digitised before the end of the year.
The development forms part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda to make public services more accessible, reduce processing times and limit the need for citizens to visit government offices in person.
According to the 2026 Mid-Year Report, several agencies expanded their use of digital platforms during the first half of the year, with government services increasingly being delivered through online portals and integrated service centres.
Among the developments is the continued expansion of online revenue administration services through the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
During the first six months of 2026, more than 85,000 tax returns were filed through the GRA’s eServices platform. The platform is also expected to facilitate online payments using Mobile Money Guyana and debit cards before the end of the year.

The Padna mobile application, meanwhile, has more than 84,000 registered users and was upgraded during the period to improve filing individual income tax returns and notification of refunds. Further upgrades are planned to facilitate motor vehicle licence payments.
Digital services have also been expanded through government service centres, which bring several agencies together under one roof.
The centres provide services from the GRA, General Register Office, Digital Identity Card Registry and Immigration Department, with centres operating in several regions and additional facilities being developed.
The digital transformation has also extended to housing services.
Through the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s Single Window System, 4,292 applications were submitted during the first half of the year, of which 2,398 were processed for residential, commercial and industrial lots and other categories.
The CHPA’s online portal also facilitated 7,882 land applications and 207 applications for home construction assistance.
In the immigration sector, an online passport application and appointment system launched in June, while work continues to decentralise passport services through integrated government service centres.
The government has also continued rolling out the national electronic identification system, with biometric eIDs introduced to strengthen identity verification and improve access to public services.
The expansion of digital services comes as the government seeks to create a more efficient and accessible public sector, with technology increasingly being used to reduce administrative barriers and bring services closer to citizens.
With additional services expected to come online during the remainder of 2026, the digital transformation programme is set to continue reshaping how Guyanese interact with the State. (DPI)
