THE Guyana Police Force destroyed an estimated $22,038,728 in suspected narcotics on Thursday after ranks uncovered two cannabis farms during an eradication exercise at Yaruni Bend, Linden.

According to police, the operation led to the destruction of approximately 53,000 suspected cannabis plants, ranging in height from two to six feet, along with 10 pounds of dried cannabis.

The two farms covered a combined eight acres. Ranks also discovered two makeshift camps and two drying areas on the property, which investigators believe were being used to support the cultivation operation.

All of the suspected cannabis plants, the dried cannabis, and the camps and drying areas were destroyed by fire, police said.

No arrests were made during the exercise. The Guyana Police Force says investigations into the operation are continuing.
