THE Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand; Minister within the Ministry, Pauline Campbell-Sukhai; Permanent Secretary, Miguel Choo-Kang, and heads of departments, on Monday, reviewed ongoing projects, infrastructural priorities and service delivery matters during the ministry’s departmental meeting.
Among the matters discussed were plans to upgrade public infrastructure across the country, identifying areas requiring intervention and ensuring that works are properly planned and executed to aid in creating a cleaner, safer, more efficient nation.
Significant progress was also noted at the Kitty Market, with the Ministry having completed the matters required on its part to facilitate the provision of electricity to the facility. The necessary infrastructure and meters are now in place, with further progress dependent on the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) and prospective vendors completing the outstanding requirements.
The meeting also focused on the timely execution of projects across the Ministry’s portfolio. Minister Manickchand reiterated the importance of closely monitoring contractors, maintaining stipulated deadlines and promptly addressing challenges that could delay the delivery of projects to communities.
Minister Manickchand also expressed appreciation to the teams and stakeholders responsible for the timely completion of the Woolford Avenue upgrades, commending their efforts in delivering the works efficiently and advancing the transformation of the area.
