THE Ministry of Education (MoE) has invited all faith-based organisation across Guyana to pray for all students, teachers and school communities leading up to the reopening of schools on August 31, 2026.
In a memorandum addressed to all esteemed leaders of religious organisations across Guyana, all head teachers through the Regional Education Officers (Regions One to 10) and Principal Education Officer, the ministry said that as the 2026–2027 academic year begins, it respectfully invites these religious organisations to join in a National Call to Prayer for students, teachers, and school communities as schools prepare to reopen for the start of a new academic year.
Education, according to the ministry, is not only a national priority, but also a sacred trust.
“As our children return to the classroom and our teachers prepare to guide and inspire them, we firmly believe that spiritual support strengthens the foundation upon which learning, character, and national development are built,” it said.
As such, the ministry requested that during worship services, and other gatherings in the coming days and weeks ahead, they include special prayers for our children which should include that they may be protected, inspired and empowered to learn with purpose, diligence, and joy; for our teachers the message should be that they may be blessed with wisdom, patience, strength, and renewed commitment as they nurture and shape the leaders of tomorrow; and for our schools it should be that they must remain safe, welcoming and nurturing environments where each student is given the opportunity to thrive and achieve their fullest potential.
“Your leadership, guidance and spiritual influence within our communities are deeply valued. We are confident that your prayers and support will contribute meaningfully to the success and well-being of the students, educators, and families whom we collectively serve,” the MoE said.
Moreover, the ministry expresses sincere appreciation for the continued partnership of these leaders in building a brighter future for Guyana through faith, education, and service.
“We look forward to your support in this important national endeavour,” the MoE remarked.
