FIFTEEN youngsters about to enter secondary school have received bursaries from Sterling Products Limited in recognition of their academic achievements, as the company continues its annual initiative to support the educational development of employees’ children.
They were being recognised during Sterling’s 2026 Annual Bursary Awards ceremony, which brought together company management, employees, parents, children, and representatives of the Ministry of Education.
The bursaries, which were placed into savings accounts, are intended to assist recipients with future school expenses as they progress through secondary education.
Addressing the ceremony, Ministry of Education representative Donella Shamsudeen congratulated the soon-to-be students on their performance in the National Grade Six Assessment and urged them to remain committed to their studies as they transition to secondary school and prepare for the next stages of their education.
She stressed the importance of ensuring that every child has access to educational opportunities and resources, while encouraging the awardees to make full use of the opportunities available to them.
They were also urged to remain disciplined, work hard, and embrace lifelong learning.
Sterling’s management congratulated the awardees and their parents, acknowledging the sacrifices, guidance and support that contributed to their academic success.
Management encouraged the recipients to use the bursaries responsibly and continue building their savings throughout their secondary school years.
The company also highlighted its Work Study Programme, which provides eligible students with opportunities to gain practical work experience with Sterling after completing secondary school.
The ceremony featured an address by a Sterling employee, who shared his personal educational and professional journey and encouraged the students to remain determined regardless of their circumstances.
He urged them not to allow their starting point to determine their future, stressing the importance of perseverance, patience, discipline and continuous learning in achieving their goals.
The award recipients, in turn, expressed gratitude to Sterling Products, their parents, organisers and other supporters for contributing to their educational development.
They also encouraged their peers to remain focused, work hard, pursue their ambitions and take advantage of opportunities that can help shape their future.
