Friday Night’s 5s Field Hockey League

BOUNTY GCC, GCC Elites, Old Fort Phantom Troupe and Saints Girls delivered scintillating wins on Friday evening at the “Skip” Roberts Youth Development Complex in South Ruimveldt Gardens.

The teams were a part of the Friday Night’s 5s Field Hockey League organised by the Old Fort Hockey Club.

The highlight of the evening’s clashes came in the senior men’s category with a 13-1 drubbing of Old Fort Top Shottas by Bounty GCC.

Meshach Sergeant led with six goals, with Orland Semple and Dwayne Scott also scoring braces in the demolition exercise by Bounty GCC squad.

Old Fort Top Form also narrowly got past GCC Outlaws in the Senior Men’s Class 6-5 with a hat-trick from Nkosi Saul and Yonnick Norton. Zack Edwards scored all of GCC Outlaws’ goals in a losing cause.

In another senior men’s game, Pepsi Hikers took a 5-4 win over Saint’s Men and GCC Hockey Dogs also drew with GCC Outlaws 4-4.

Meanwhile, in the senior women’s category, GCC Elite also trounced Old Fort Inferno 11-2.

Abosiade Cadogan was phenomenal, as she pierced six goals past Old Fort custodian, with Rebecca Ferreira also recording a triple in the win.

Also coming out victorious in the women’s division was the national women Masters Team that stopped GCC Spice 6-3.

Karensa Fernandes was instrumental for the Masters ladies with a hat-trick in the win.

Carenza Copeland then led the pack with a hat-trick with braces coming for Arian Khan, Kaiyra Scott and Makaylah Poole to guide Saints girls to an awesome 10-2 whipping of Hikers Valkyries in the girls’ U17 category.

It was a one-sided affair from the Saints’ youths, with all but one player getting onto the score sheet.

The Old Fort Phantom Troupe also took a handsome win in the U17 girls division against GCC Her-Ricanes.

The clash ended 7-2; Old Fort was led by Tinashe Henry with a quadruple.

In the boys’ U17 division, GCC Outlaws beat Old Fort Warriors 8-3, with Eli Atwell and Kristain Viapree  coming to the fore with triples in the win.

Saints U17 boys also defeated Hiker Cadet’s 3-1 with goals off the stick of Oswald Fraser, Fayed Mohamed and Ezekiel Moses.
