TWO hundred and fifteen children of Guyana Police Force (GPF) members were recognised on Friday for their academic achievements at the Force’s Annual Bursary Awards ceremony, as they prepare to transition from primary to secondary education.

The ceremony, held on August 14, 2026, was conducted under the theme “Investing in Education, Inspiring Success” and celebrated students who completed the 2026 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

The event was chaired by Assistant Superintendent Lynch-Davis and brought together police commanders, heads of departments, senior and junior ranks, parents and other invited guests.

Delivering the opening remarks, Deputy Commissioner (Administration), Ravindradat Budhram, urged the awardees to remain disciplined, diligent and committed to their education as they embark on the next stage of their academic journey.

Budhram also acknowledged the sacrifices made by members of the Force in carrying out their duties and reaffirmed the GPF’s commitment to supporting the educational development of their children through bursaries and other opportunities.

Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, who delivered the keynote address, commended the GPF for placing emphasis on the welfare of its members and their children.

With the awardees preparing to enter secondary school, Parag encouraged them to remain resilient and regard challenges as opportunities for personal and academic growth.

She congratulated the students and their parents and urged the awardees to take advantage of the opportunities available to them while working towards becoming responsible and positive contributors to their communities and Guyana.

The programme also featured a dance performance and a poem presented by bursary recipients.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by awardee Kezia Josiah.

The annual bursary initiative forms part of the GPF’s efforts to recognise academic achievement among the children of its members while providing support as they progress through the education system.
