– Khan says engagement can strengthen investment, local content and workforce development

HEAD of the Region Three Private Sector Inc. (R3PSInc), Halim Khan, has welcomed the upcoming Region Three Engagement Forum as a timely opportunity to strengthen local business participation, expand workforce development and create greater economic opportunities for communities across the region.
The forum, which is being hosted by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) in collaboration with ACE Consulting Group, is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, at the TVET Building in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The engagement is expected to bring together regional stakeholders, government officials, representatives of ExxonMobil Guyana, business leaders and private-sector organisations from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).

Khan said the initiative provides an important platform for businesses and other stakeholders to engage directly with major industry players, identify opportunities and better position themselves to benefit from Guyana’s expanding economy.
He noted that Region Three has significant potential for further growth, supported by its strategic location, expanding infrastructure, productive agricultural sector, growing population and increasing commercial activity.
The R3PSInc head said forums of this nature can help ensure that local businesses are better informed about industry requirements and are able to develop the capacity needed to participate more effectively in emerging supply chains.
The event will focus on shared economic goals, regional investment priorities, local business development and workforce growth.
Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, is expected to deliver the keynote address.
Presentations will also be made by ExxonMobil Guyana President, Alistair Routledge; Senior Petroleum Adviser at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bobby Gossai; and President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kathy Smith.
The forum will provide opportunities for participating companies and sector leaders to engage directly with local enterprises and Business Support Organisations (BSOs), outline their procurement needs and operational capabilities, and explore potential partnerships.
Participants will also be able to discuss corporate social responsibility initiatives that align with the development priorities of communities in Regions Two and Three.
Khan said meaningful engagement between the private sector, government, major investors and local communities is essential to ensuring that economic growth translates into tangible benefits for businesses, workers and residents.
He added that R3PSInc remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, investment, skills development and greater participation by local businesses in Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy.
The forum is expected to provide a valuable avenue for enterprises to build relationships, gain insight into available opportunities and explore avenues for collaboration with industry leaders.
