THE Ministry of Health is advancing efforts to strengthen public-private collaboration in the healthcare sector through a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) governing the supply of Ministry-issued antiretroviral drugs, vaccines and blood products to private healthcare facilities.
Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, met with representatives of private healthcare institutions this week at the Ministry’s Brickdam boardroom, where discussions focused on reviewing and signing the updated agreement.
The revised MoU is intended to strengthen governance, clearly define the responsibilities of participating institutions and standardise the distribution and provision of essential medical commodities across private healthcare facilities.
According to the Ministry, the updated framework will support greater accountability and help ensure greater consistency in the delivery of healthcare services to citizens accessing care through both public and private institutions.
The engagement forms part of the Government’s broader efforts to foster stronger public-private partnerships and improve coordination across Guyana’s healthcare system.
Through closer collaboration, the Ministry and private healthcare providers are expected to strengthen the management and distribution of critical medical supplies while supporting more coordinated and reliable care for patients.
The Ministry said continued co-operation between the public and private healthcare sectors is essential to improving accountability, maintaining consistent standards and ensuring that citizens have access to quality healthcare services.
