GUYANA has accredited its first non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic engagement and expanding bilateral co-operation between the two countries.
Ambassador Safraaz Ahmad Shadood, who currently serves as Guyana’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, formally presented his letter of credence on July 28, 2026, accrediting him as Guyana’s non-resident Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
The credentials were received by His Excellency Abdul Majeed Al Smari, Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Following the presentation, Ambassador Shadood and Deputy Minister Al Smari held discussions on opportunities to strengthen bilateral co-operation and further advance relations between Guyana and Saudi Arabia.
The accreditation represents a further expansion of Guyana’s diplomatic presence in the Middle East and provides an avenue for closer engagement with Saudi Arabia on areas of mutual interest.
Guyana and Saudi Arabia established formal diplomatic relations on February 22, 2012. The accreditation of Ambassador Shadood is expected to support continued dialogue and co-operation as the two countries seek to deepen their diplomatic relationship.
