TWO men who were among the remaining suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Levi Williams, called “Vamperous,” whose decomposed body was found stuffed inside a barrel at the Le Repentir Cemetery on Christmas night, were on Thursday remanded to prison. 

Edgar Lawson, called “Baby,” a 33-year-old businessman of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, and Keiran Barrett, called “Bucko,” a 50-year-old vendor of East La Penitence, Georgetown, appeared separately before Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The pair were charged with the murder of Williams, which allegedly occurred between December 23 and December 25, 2025, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown.

They were not required to plead to the indictable charge. Bail was refused and both men were remanded to prison until July 29, 2026.

Lawson and Barrett were arrested by police in June after being listed among the remaining suspects in the investigation.

Williams’ decomposed body was discovered on Christmas night, December 25, 2025, stuffed inside a barrel at Le Repentir Cemetery, in one of the city’s most gruesome murder investigations.

According to the Guyana Police Force, investigations revealed that Williams was allegedly killed sometime between the early hours of December 23 and the night of December 25 at a location on Charlotte Street.

Police said Williams had been accused by a group of men of stealing a firearm.

Investigators alleged that he was restrained at a suspected drug block in the Charlotte Street area, where he was severely beaten with wire. During the assault, Williams reportedly became helpless and was subsequently placed inside a blue plastic bag.

Further investigations revealed that his body was loaded into the back of a motor bus and transported to Le Repentir Cemetery, where it was dumped inside a barrel between Louisa Row and St. Stephen Street.

The body was discovered at about 23:40hrs on December 25. Police said Williams was clad only in a pair of blue shorts, with his head inside the barrel and his feet protruding.

Earlier this year, three other men were charged with Williams’ murder. They are Randy Mars, called “Ratty,” a 42-year-old unemployed man of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway; Aaron Khan, called “Tattoo Man,” a 29-year-old unemployed resident of Charlotte Street; and Jamal David, called “Hundred,” a 44-year-old unemployed resident of West Ruimveldt.

With the arraignment of Lawson and Barrett, five men have now been charged in connection with the murder as police continue their investigations.
